On this day in 1971, India recorded their first Test win in England, at The Oval, London. With this win India won it's first ever Test series in England.
This win assumes importance since the game originated in England and it was good for once to give it back to the colonial masters who ruled us for over 2 centuries.
The main architect of the win was Bhagwat Chandrasekhar with a match haul of 8 wickets with 6 of them in the second innings. He also scored 24 runs in the first innings, coming at No. 9 and added valuable runs with Abid Ali.
